MN (Dec. 20, 2008) Bagley, Minnesota racer Bryan Dyrdahl
won the Gonvick 100. The 2008 FXR Pro 600 champion continued his winning
form by beating a record setting field. Dyrdahl rode his Ski-Doo to a
field-best time of 1 hour, 15 minutes, 41 seconds. Second place rider

1 hour, 16 minutes, 11 seconds. Third place went to Arctic Cat rider Ryan
Simons with a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes, 26 seconds. The Gonvick 100 was the first race of USCCs nine race schedule. The race course was a 9.2 mile lap the FXR Pro 600 racers ran 7 laps. The course included ditch and woods running. A new season of USCC Cross-Country racing was officially launched under light snow when the green flag dropped at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning. USCC officials were concerned about the weather because a snow storm was rapidly approaching the Gonvick area. The National Weather Service issued a warning for heavy snow and strong winds creating poor visibility. With a concern for the drivers safety, Pat Mach, President for USCC, made an announcement at the drivers meeting that the races will be shortened. Mach is enthused about the upcoming racing season. He said, We have great snow conditions for December. Our race locations on the schedule all have good snow now...everything is on track for the balance of the season. Check our web site at www.usccracing.com for future announcements we have lots of new things coming. The showcase event of the day was the FXR Pro 600 class. A heated battle between Dyrdahl, Cat rider Brian Dick and Cat rider Ryan Simons, developed into exciting racing action as the racers pushed hard during a shortened feature race. Dyrdahl did have some issues during the race. He was at or near the top of the speed chart despite losing his brakes, causing him to crash in the woods. Dyrdahl said, I drove as hard as I could, the course was rough but I like rough courses. I knew I was in the lead early but after my crash I had to step it up. It feels awesome to win in my hometown I always run a little harder here. Dyrdahls crew changed all is shocks between his qualifying runs it proved to be the right call. Brian is in year two of a three year contract with Ski-Doo. The FXR Pro 600 class had record setting entries. Chad Lian, Jon Arneson and Josh Glendenning returned to racing action after sustaining injuries last season these riders had good runs. Yamaha rider Chad Gueco from Eagle River, Alaska will be joining the series for the Grafton Equipment 100 in Grafton, ND scheduled for January 3, 2009. Gueco is scheduled to run the remainder of the season. Brian Carey II from Morley, MI was the lone Yamaha rider. Arctic Cats Factory snocross team attended the race. Dan Ebert was on a blistering pace until a mechanical problem took him out. Simons finished third. Ebert and Simons plan to run the USCC races on their off weekends on the snocross circuit. Polaris rider Cory Davidson was running strong until a stud came out of the track and damaged his front cooler, which took him out of the race. DJ Ekre ran a good race aboard his Arctic Cat. He said, Everything went really good today. I have been testing all week and I put it all on the line. Arctic Cat sleds are tough to break. Ekre finished in 9th place he plans to race at all USCC races. There were no injuries reported in the FXR Pro 600 class. The Stud Boy Semi-Pro 600 class also set a record for entries. Ski-Doo rider Sam Vandeputte beat the field with a time of 34 minutes, 27 seconds. Vandeputte said, My Ski-Doo ran well today. Im excited about getting a win for my new sponsor doo-talk.com.
